Hi! I’m Salma Kanaan, a Qatar-based freelancer who loves creative work of many kinds. I began working as a fine artist, working primarily on portraiture using oil paint. My work since then has grown to also include brand design, where I create entire brand identities for companies and independent clients.

I began my creative career in high school where I found a love for painting. Some of the work that I still feel fondest of were made during those years in school; particularly during the Higher Level Visual Arts course in the IB Diploma years where I focused on portraiture through works that highlighted the importance of mental health. 

After highschool, I majored in Studio Arts at the American University of Beirut where I furthered my skills in painting among other art forms like photography, videography, sculpture, and digital illustration. 

After university, I decided to further expand my creative skills by investing in courses about brand design and visual identity offered by CalArts, and received a Specialization in Graphic Design.
